Dominican Cheap Tours
Weather Policy
Last Updated: January 2026
The Dominican Republic enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. However, weather conditions — including rain, tropical storms, and hurricanes — can sometimes affect tours and activities. This policy outlines how Dominican Cheap Tours handles weather-related situations.
1. Tour Operations in Light Rain
Light rain or overcast skies are common in tropical climates and generally do not affect tour operations. Tours such as the Damajagua 27 Waterfalls, city tours, and transfers will proceed as normal unless conditions pose a safety risk.
Customers are encouraged to bring a light rain jacket or poncho.
2. Tour Cancellations Due to Weather
Dominican Cheap Tours reserves the right to cancel or modify a tour when weather conditions are deemed unsafe by our guides, tour operators, or park authorities. This includes:
- Tropical storms or hurricanes
- Flash flooding (particularly relevant for Damajagua Waterfalls)
- Road closures due to storm damage
- Official park or attraction closures due to weather
3. Refunds for Weather Cancellations
If a tour begins and must be shortened or ended early due to unexpected weather, a partial refund may be issued at the discretion of the Company based on the services provided.
4. Customer-Initiated Cancellations for Weather Concerns
If a customer chooses to cancel a booking due to weather concerns (while our operations are still running), the standard cancellation policy applies:
- 24+ hours before: Full refund
- Less than 24 hours before: Non-refundable
We recommend monitoring local weather forecasts and contacting us via WhatsApp if you have concerns — we are happy to advise whether a tour will proceed safely.
5. Hurricane Season
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. During this period, tropical storms are possible. Dominican Cheap Tours monitors forecasts closely and will proactively contact customers with upcoming bookings in the event of a named storm system.
6. Damajagua Waterfalls — River Level Policy
Heavy rainfall can raise river levels at the Damajagua waterfalls, prompting park authorities to restrict or close access for safety. In these cases, the park entrance fee and guide fees are non-refundable by the park itself, but Dominican Cheap Tours will refund our service portion and work with you to reschedule.
